Bunanza Rabbit Rescue Ranch has rescued 33 young rabbits from being eaten! Flemish Giant/Black Otter mixes ranging from about 5 weeks to approximately 5 months, they were jammed together into 16 square feet – a humane size for only ONE rabbit.

They were on top of each other, and starving, as there was only enough food and water for a single guinea pig. That's not enough food for even one rabbit!

Some were sick, and have received medical care. All are now being cared for, with room to romp, adequate food and water, and the first affectionate human attention they've ever known.

They're beautiful, friendly bunnies who'll make great pets once they're all healthy, spayed/neutered and vaccinated!

Food, medical attention, alter surgery and vaccination costs about $300 per rescued rabbit.

We're calling on ALL animal lovers to help us get these sweet innocents ready to be adopted to caring forever homes. Thank you!

(Since 2020 Bunanza Rabbit Rescue Ranch has found over 750 homes for dumped, surrendered and rescued rabbits. You can connect and find out more via Facebook, Instagram, and bunanza.org)

This is Delphine, one of the 33 young rabbits we rescued last year. She boarded with us recently and we're delighted to report that she's WONDERFUL. She's shiny, happy, healthy, beautiful, curious and friendly. There couldn't be a happier ending!

That's the outcome we want for ALL the buns we saved from being eaten. They were in poor condition when they arrived, so we've had plenty of medical bills for them and we're still working our way through getting all of them spayed or neutered so they can live their best lives, just like Delphine.

From the bottoms of our hearts, THANK YOU for caring about these bunnies. Without you, they would have had short, terrible lives with horrifying ends. Every dollar gets them closer to being ready to GO HOME!

Rescue work can be heart warming but also heart breaking:

We were ecstatic that we could save 33 bunnies who'd spent all of their young lives in a cramped, filthy space with no room even to turn around without stepping on each other.

Since their rescue, we've loved watching them jump for joy as they discover the world is a better place than they ever imagined.

But a number came in severely undernourished and sick. Sadly, despite veterinary care and the dedicated attention of our Fosters, we've lost 11 of them.

Given what we know of their circumstances – unsanitary and inhumane conditions, probably inbred, and almost certainly separated from their mothers before a proper immune system could be established – it's not surprising, though no less tragic for that.

This was a painful post to write, but we want to be transparent in keeping our supporters updated.

We take comfort in knowing that because of our fantastic Fosters, before these bunnies went over the Rainbow Bridge, they had the chance to walk on grass, see the sky, eat as much quality food and drink as much water as they wanted, be able to stretch out and sleep properly – and know what it was like to be treated with love and respect.

Although we no longer need to alter and vaccinate all of the original 33 rabbits, we have bills for the ones who've passed, and continuing food costs for the 22 survivors to make sure they all reach healthy weights, plus we'll have expenses for spaying, neutering, etc. to get them ready for their forever homes.

Speaking of which, it pleases us greatly that we can end on a happier note: TWO of the bunnies rescued from those horrific conditions have been already been adopted and are living their best lives with loving families.

Rescue will always be filled with highs and lows. Thank you for supporting our mission by donating and sharing. We couldn't do it without you!

The first 3 of the thirty-three buns we saved are ready for adoption!

Cordelia, Cornelia and Cecelia are beautiful girls who, post-spay, have become trusting, friendly and ready to go to loving homes.

Help us get the other 30 there! Spread the word, share the fundraiser, and give again if you can.

We're making progress and you're making it happen!
