Four years ago, my life changed when I met Vienna.
My veterinary science teacher found her as a stray in New Haven and helped bring her to safety. When I adopted her, I had no idea how much she would mean to me. Since then, Vienna has become my best friend, my constant companion, and the sweetest cat I have ever known. She greets everyone with love, curls up beside me when I sleep, and has a way of making even the hardest days better.
Today, Vienna is facing the biggest challenge of her life.
Over the past week, she has become seriously ill. I rushed her to the veterinarian hoping for answers, but after multiple exams and tests, no one can tell me exactly what is wrong. One of the possibilities being discussed is lung cancer, but nothing has been confirmed. The uncertainty has been heartbreaking. Watching her struggle while not knowing what is causing it has been one of the most difficult experiences I've ever faced.
As a pre-veterinary student at UConn, animals have always been my passion. I have dedicated my education and future career to helping them, and now I am fighting for my own cat. I am determined to give Vienna every chance possible to receive the diagnostics and treatment she needs before making any irreversible decisions.
Unfortunately, the veterinary bills have already reached $5,500. After not being able to determine what was wrong, one veterinarian suggested euthanasia. While I understand that recommendation can sometimes come from a place of compassion, I am not ready to give up on Vienna without answers. She is still fighting, and I want to make sure I have explored every reasonable option before making such a difficult decision.
I am asking for help covering the cost of her medical care, diagnostic testing, specialist consultations, and any treatment that may be available. Every donation, no matter the amount, will go directly toward Vienna's veterinary expenses and help me continue searching for answers.
