MOTW 10/20 - Jessica Montero

Guys! I am BLOWN AWAY!! Still in shock so if I ramble or make no sense, that is why 🤯 I

I cannot believe that I was chosen. Honestly I feel so unworthy but this is a HUGE blessing for my family. Like LIFE CHANGING.

I guess I should start by telling you all a little about my 'ohana. I have been married to my husband for 16 years. We got married very young and started our family in my early 20s. I knew from the time I was a little girl that I wanted to be a mom. My eldest, CJ is 15 and then we have Harper 11 and Emersyn 9. They are my world. I am a homeschooling mama and have loved every second of watching them grow.

We currently live on O'ahu in Hawaii. We have been here for almost 6 years. We ended up here by happenstance. My husband is an operating room nurse and was a travel nurse for a time. We traveled as a family together to his assignments. Since we homeschool it was perfect. We've gotten to live in some really cool places, like Alaska. In 2019 we got sent to Hawaii for a 19 week assignment. We ended up staying a bit longer as the hospital here still needed help, then Covid hit. Because my husband was an OR nurse, this put us in a really tough spot bc ORs across the country closed and there were no travel nurse jobs available anywhere. We were very blessed that the hospital here offered him a permanent job. So just like that we ended up here full time.

A little about me personally. After having my babies I found myself morbidly obese. My highest weight was 270lbs. My Dad had also passed at only 53 years old from a massive heart attack, due to weight related issues. I knew I was headed in that direction if I didn't make a change. Over the past decade I have learned about fitness and nutrition and lost about 150 lbs. I found a passion for helping and empowering other women to get healthy too now. I am currently a personal trainer and nutrition coach here and have been working on building a new virtual training business as well. It's scary and stressful but it is my joy.

I want to thank each and every single one of you for taking the time to read this and for your donations. Brooklyn and this group is just such an amazing blessing. I cannot even describe what this means to us. Just days ago we were stressing because my husband hasn't been able to get overtime and that really puts us in a tough spot. My 9 year old also needs braces but we have been putting it off because it just isn't in the budget right now. I am beyond grateful and humbled. I cannot even put it into words. ❤️🙏

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is this about? Bless A Mom is about moms coming together to spotlight one mom each week. We invite the community to gift her $2. When we all give a little, it adds up to something really big... not just financially but emotionally & spiritually. It's not about the money, it's about reminding a mother, her family, that she is seen, loved, & worthy.
  • How do we select a Mom of the Week? Moms are ALWAYS chosen at random. They are NOT chosen based off their trauma stories or whether they have gifted in the past.
  • How do I get on the list to be selected as the next Mom of the Week? To join our Facebook Group and join the list to be the next Mom of the Week, Click Here
  • Do I have to gift to get on the list? Gifting is never required to be on the list, all mamas are welcome.
  • Do I have to gift the Mom of the Week? No. Every mom deserves to feel seen, supported, & blessed regardless of her ability to gift. That being said, we do hope you'll consider gifting when you can. That small $2 is what makes such a huge impact when we all come together! But we understand what it's like to have $2 feel like $200 & we will never exclude a mom bc she can't give.
  • Am I guaranteed to receive gifts if I am the Mom of the Week? No. This group offers no prizes or guarantee of gifts. We could select a random mom & she receives no gifts at all. We have no idea how many gifts mom will receive. It could be zero or it could be 20,000 but we offer no guarantee of any monetary prize.
