Welcome to Peaks With A Purpose, Dartmouth Club Ski edition! PWAP combines our favorite downhill sport with giving back to the our community that supports us. Every year we aim to raise money and ski over 40k feet of ski vertical in one day, filled with speed, sore legs, and good feelings.
This year, we're choosing to support Whaleback Mountain, a local non-profit ski hill providing winter sports access to New Hampshire's Upper Valley. They are also offer space for racing competitions, including the USCSA Thompson Division in which we race . From Whaleback:
"Running a non-profit ski area is a labor of love, and one we love to love, but couldn't do without YOU. Our mountain is a special one, dedicated to enabling access to snow sports for everyone in our community, regardless of ability level and financial situation. Through our local ski programs, youth scholarships, lessons for all ages, unique event opportunities, and more, we strive to cultivate a community that is as diverse as it is fun(and wow is it fun!) This commitment is the backbone of our culture, and requires much more than ticket sales to keep the bullwheel turning."
Last year, we gave it go at our Dartmouth Skiway but the mountain limited us to 33.8k feet (not for a lack of trying!). This year, we're going to make the trip over to Killington to smash our vertical and donation goals. Any support, whether it be carving turns, donating to the cause, or cheering us on, is welcome and appreciated. Lets make it good one!
