On September 27th, 2025, my best friend’s son, Daebrun Sparks, faced a tragic fate in a devastating motor vehicle accident, enduring unimaginable pain from severe injuries.
Daebrun was a passenger in his friend's car; they were at a complete stop and were rear-ended (from a person that may have been suffering a medical incident) at a rate of speed of 100 mph. The fact that there were no fatalities is remarkable.
Daebrun suffered a brain bleed and a damaged aorta, which, thankfully, have resolved. However, he is now grappling with a lacerated kidney and liver—injuries that can only heal with time. He also has a fractured hip and several broken ribs, leaving him in excruciating pain and struggling to move; the risk of pneumonia is severe.
As if this heartbreak weren’t enough, Daebrun’s fiancée, America, is due to give birth to their baby in a matter of days. This overwhelming stress is not only taking a toll on the couple, but is also shadowing the arrival of their first child, a moment that should be filled with joy.
