Hello. Our names are Salem and Alex. we are a 20 and 22 year old same sex interracial nonbinary couple that advocates for equity and equal rights in the United States. This is the story of our curse.
in May of 2022 we moved from our home state of Alaska to Washington in hopes of a new start.
Our Uhaul broke down in the middle of the Alcan, which we were driving on for our move. Once we reached our new home, our car windows were broken into and we lost our main source of income.
Ever since then, we have experienced unyeilding illness, massive heat, disaster after disaster, and frequently havent been able to eat in order to take care of our pets (5yo Cavie, 5yo Nebelung, 6yo Ball Python, 6mo DSH)
Over the past two months, we used our PFD to purchase a used car that was supposed to get us back on our feet. At the time, this car was perfect. We were told it had no mechanical issues, and ran great. Unfortunately, after some problems began arising, we learned the car was illegally sold to us with ~$4,000 worth of damage that needed to be fixed. Lemon Law does not cover this vehicle.
We are unable to use our car, and havent had any luck with getting employed. Despite our efforts, we have been unable to raise any money, or any rental or utility assistance. Due to this, we have been falling behind on rent, bills, and our own basic necessities like our medications.
Every dollar donated to this campaign will be spent on repairs, rent, bills, and food. Any extra funds raised will be directly donated to NAYA of Portland, Oregon.
