Mural Madness is a free, two-day community art festival built around live art, friendly competition, and creative energy. Inspired by tournament-style brackets, the event brings artists and the public together to experience art being created in real time.
Day 1: Opening Rounds & Semifinals
Day One kicks off the competition with 20 mural artists battling it out in Round One, each creating a 2x2 ft mini mural in just 90 minutes. Based on judge scoring and crowd votes, the top 10 artists advance to the semifinals later that same day.
In the Semifinal Round, artists are given 3 hours to paint on a 4x4 ft panel, pushing their creativity, speed, and technique to the next level.
Throughout Day One, the festival atmosphere is in full effect with music by a live DJ, performances, vendors, and food trucks (venue permitting), creating an energetic, family-friendly experience for artists and attendees alike.
Day 2: Championship Day & Art Showdowns
Day Two is all about the finals. The top 5 artists advance to the Championship Round, painting live on the alley wall at Apopka Murals. Finalists are given 8 hours to complete an 8x10 ft mural, transforming the space into a permanent work of public art.
In addition to the championship mural round, Day Two features high-energy creative competitions including the Art Blitz Speed Painting Competition, the Chalk Art Challenge, and the No Borders Speed Drawing Battle, showcasing a wide range of artistic styles and disciplines.
