Chewbacca Chapmon
Born June 14, 2018
From the very first day, Chewy has been our baby boy. He is truly part of our family, and anyone who has met him knows just how special he is. He loves tug-of-war, food (of course), and getting the zoomies with his brother Bob and the neighborhood dogs. He has never met a stranger, and above all, he is the happiest, most loving boy.
This is not something we would normally do, but right now our journey has brought us to a place where we need help.
On April 8, 2026, Chewy went out for his normal morning potty break. Moments after coming back inside, I heard a sudden squeal. By the time I reached him, he was dragging his hind legs behind him. We rushed him to the vet, where X-rays revealed he has a ruptured disc putting pressure on his spine.
We were told this condition can be common in certain dogs, but hearing it about our Chewy has been heartbreaking. The recommended surgery could cost between $8,000–$10,000, and even then, there are no guarantees, only the hope of a faster recovery. At this time, we are focusing on giving him the best chance to heal and stay comfortable. We are working toward getting him the support he needs, including medications, braces, mobility aids, and tools to keep him safe and stable during recovery. Every step forward matters.
We have been praying over Chewy, and we are already seeing small but meaningful signs of progress. He is able to urinate on his own, which is a huge blessing and gives us hope that he can recover.
We are incredibly grateful for every prayer, message, and moment of support we’ve received. It truly means more than we can put into words. If you feel led to help in any way, whether through prayer, sharing his story, or donating. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Chewy is not just a dog to us he is family. And we are holding onto hope for our sweet boy.
