For the past few years, Liv has been building a life and a home in the Grant Park neighborhood of Atlanta. Now they need to pack everything up and relocate to New York City to get treatment for their stage 4 colon cancer.
For the past few weeks, Liv has been dealing with decreased appetite, revulsion towards food, and stomach pains. At first, we thought that this was due to their ARFID - Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder - which is a condition they've had for their entire life. However, as symptoms grew more and more severe, and taking into account their family history with cancer, they went up to NYC where their older sister Kira lives to do extensive medical testing. Liv learned about their stage 4 colon cancer on Friday, April 24th of this year.
Stage 4 is the point where the cancer has spread to other parts of the body (in Liv's case, the liver). Liv is facing an extensive medical journey and we anticipate chemotherapy, surgery, targeted therapy, immunotherapy, and/or radiation. Liv is still figuring out their treatment plan as this is such a new diagnosis.
In light of this new diagnosis, Liv and their sibling Raesun are moving to NYC for proximity to better medical options, healthcare and proximity to family. This campaign is being organized by their older sibling Raesun, who will be moving both of their things up to NYC as soon as logistically feasible. In anticipation of this move, Raesun will be ending the services and subscriptions to the apartment they share, selling and donating most of their belongings, and packing everything up to come to NYC.
We are asking for your financial support in this relocation and anticipation of increased medical expenses. Our goal is $25,000 for this campaign.
Meet Liv
Liv is a nonbinary, neurodivergent, queer, ace person who loves ballads, crafts, flowers, and their cat Ether. Liv is community minded, covid-conscious, a maker of chaotic playlists, a crafter, and a practitioner of ancestor veneration. Last year, Liv founded Ether & Roots, a consulting business doing logistics, administration, and event planning. Their love, care and impact to their friends, family and clients is always present and felt.
Liv understands that not everyone is able to give money and wants you to know that is okay! You can also support by sharing this fundraiser.
As a note to care for yourself and loved ones: The American Cancer Society recommends everyone to start screening for cancer at age 45. There are a number of ways to do these screenings - which should definitely be a conversation with a doctor.
We thank you for your time, care and contribution to Liv’s life and wellbeing.
Sending love,
Raesun, Kira & Liv
