Domestic violence, financial abuse and survival strikes WAY too many people… unfortunately I am one of the statistics, but I am a survivor.
My ex husband used and abused my body, for 5 years until he tried to end my life. He was also using my social security number without my knowledge, leading to thousands of fraudulent dollars destroying my credit. I’ve worked hard getting it down, but I desperately need help at this point. I had to run multiple times as he was stalking, threatening and even vandalized and destroyed a vehicle I was making payments on. Then unemployment struck unexpectedly, over a year ago and I have not been able to find work with decent pay since. I resorted to selling personal effects which has been largely unsuccessful unfortunately. I’m out of options for things to cut down or sell, so I’m looking for help. My vehicle got totaled in 2024, and insurance was less than helpful even though I was not at fault…. So, I’m searching for a vehicle that is affordable and safe for myself and my toddler. I also had major surgery in May which prevented me from getting another job in a timely manner so I fell behind.
My goal…. Once I am able to get caught up…. I want to go back to helping others. Prior to this I donated money, time at events and helped with rides and childcare for people in need. I would love to start a non-profit to help DV victims start over, get a warehouse and load it with household items new and donated so the people in need can create a safe home with chosen items. (Furniture, clothing, household decor, kitchen items, towels/ linens, soap/ essential toiletries, etc) Plus an office where we can get them connected via computer with local resources, bank accounts (maybe help with initial deposit if the charity has funds available), college registration, file any paperwork for community resources and food stamps/ Medicaid/ cash aid, file legal papers for divorce or protection orders… anything needed to get on their feet safely and the resources to do so. Not just survive but create a safe environment of hope where they can thrive after! That’s the goal.
But I’ve got to get back on my feet first. I currently work with kids, and love the work, but it’s a low income role that doesn’t afford me the ability to get caught up- it’s still survival mode due to the past events. I want a chance to thrive and give back. My BIG goal is $25k to finish eliminating what was done to me financially, but this would make great headway towards that.
