We Need Your Help! Memories of Nick for Sage and Kobe Project!

 

Hi,

This is Juliette Marcello - for those who do not know me, I am one of Kara Ann's younger sisters. 

First of all, I want to thank everyone for their support over the past two years- not just for Nick, but for my sister, Sage, and Kobe. While his battle has sadly come to an end, their battle to try to adjust to a "new normal" is just beginning. 

I promised Nick that I would never let my sister and the girls forget how much he loved them—and that his love will never change. The below is an idea that we came up with together, but I need your help to make it happen.

***Kara Ann only knows about the book for the girls so please do not say anything about the book for her***

I am planning a book for Sage and Kobe to show how they are connected to so many people who love and care about them (even if they have not even met them) through Nick and to remind them of the type of person/father that he was. In order to do this I am requesting that you send me any/all of the following:
    1    Your name and how you know/met Nick
    2    A memory that you have with him
    3    A memory of him with Sage and/or Kobe (still deciding if I will be able to do a separate book for each or make a joint book so if you have separate memories for both, please send them too)- this can be as simple as something you remember Nick saying about them if you have not met them.
    4    A picture- you with Nick, Nick with the girls, whatever you have.
    5    The city and state that you live in (so I can make a map to show how people all over the country love them because they love Nick).

TOP SECRET! I would like to do the same for Kara Ann. Their relationship changed a lot over the past two years. Nick wanted to be sure that she remembers what it was like before cancer too-so I am asking for essentially the same as the above but for Kara Ann (and please do not tell her!). 
    1    Your name and how you know/met Nick
    2    A memory that you have with him (can be the same as the one you want to share with Sage and Kobe)
    3    A memory of him with Kara Ann- can be sweet/sentimental, funny, whatever you think of when you think of them together. Again, it can even be something you heard him say about her if you have not met her. 
    4    A picture (can be the same as the one you send for Sage and Kobe)- you with Nick, Nick with her, screenshots of him saying cute things about her, whatever you have.
    5    The city/state you live in (so I can make a map)
Feel free to include anything else that you want them to know. 

Thank you all for your help with this- I am hoping to have it ready by Valentine’s Day so please send this by 1/15. (If it is after that, please send it anyways- it may not make it into the book but I can always print it out and give it with the book).

Dear friends and loved ones,

With heavy hearts, we want to share that Nick passed away peacefully early this morning, on September 6th.

While we are heartbroken, we are also deeply grateful that his fight is over. We take comfort in knowing that he is now fully at peace—restored in strength, spirit, and joy—held in the arms of our Heavenly Father. We picture him as the vibrant, strong man we will always remember, free from pain and fully whole.

Over the past two years, your love—through visits, prayers, texts, meals, and quiet presence—has carried our family in ways words can’t fully express. Thank you for being part of this journey, and for loving Nick and our family so well.

We’ll be sharing details soon about how we’ll celebrate Nick’s life, including both a funeral mass and a celebration of life. At Nick’s request, we ask that everyone who attends wear red, white, and blue in his honor—a reflection of both his love for our country and the bold, beautiful spirit he lived with every day.

Dear friends,

 

First, I want to thank you all for the incredible love and support you’ve shown over the past two years. Your prayers, visits, check-ins, and unwavering care have meant everything to Nick and me. We are especially grateful for how you’ve surrounded our girls with love through every season of this journey.

 

As many of you know, Nick has fought this terrible disease with strength and courage. Last week, we received the heartbreaking news that his tumor is progressing, and he is now transitioning to hospice care.

 

We are taking things one day at a time and holding close the peace and presence we can find. While we may not be able to respond to every message or visit request, please know we feel your love. If you're feeling led to reach out, we trust those moments will unfold as they’re meant to.

 

For those who would like to connect with Nick, there are still several meaningful ways to do so:

 

- In-person visits (based on comfort and timing)

- Zoom or FaceTime calls

- A phone call or a simple text

- Even short notes of encouragement mean so much and continue to lift Nick’s spirits.

 

We’ll also be sending out a separate update soon with ways you can support our family—through gift cards, a meal train, or other thoughtful contributions. Every gesture of support helps lighten our load, and we are so grateful.

 

All updates about Nick’s health and journey moving forward will be shared via email, so please be on the lookout if you’d like to stay connected.
