We are gathered here today to honor and remember the life of Joseph Michael Blake, Jr, a man whose kindness, strength, and love touched so many. While I did not have the privilege of knowing him personally, I have come to know the incredible person he raised—my colleague and friend, Catherine Blake. And if the measure of a life is reflected in the love and character of the people they leave behind, then Joseph Michael Blake, Jr lived a truly remarkable life.
From the stories I’ve heard, it’s clear that he was a man of deep integrity, warmth, and generosity. Whether it was through his devotion to his family, his friendships, or the simple everyday moments that made life meaningful, Joseph Michael Blake, Jr led with his heart. He was a guiding force in the lives of those who knew him, always offering wisdom, support, and an unwavering sense of love.
One of the things that meant a great deal to Joseph Michael Blake, Jr was helping others, and in that spirit, his family has asked that we honor his memory by supporting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. He believed in the importance of giving back, and this cause reflects his generous heart—ensuring that children and families facing serious illness receive the care and hope they deserve.
