My name is Salena Brandon, and I’m raising funds to help my husband, Alan, who has been incarcerated since January 4, 2025, for a crime he did not commit.

Alan never even exited the vehicle when this alleged incident occurred. Police approached the car, suspecting it had been involved in a hit-and-run. I met them at the scene right after leaving work. I showed the officer the front of the vehicle — there was no damage. When I asked who had identified the car, they pointed to a group of witnesses behind us. After the officer informed them they had the wrong vehicle, the story suddenly changed: they claimed a firearm had been seen coming from the car.

This became the new justification for a search. The firearm they found was registered and legally owned. Regardless, they removed Alan from the vehicle with excessive force and took him into custody. It wasn’t until he was already in the police car that they finally said what he was being charged with.

We have clear evidence in discovery that shows Alan’s innocence. Yet his public defender is failing him — withholding evidence, not communicating with the prosecutor, and leaving us in the dark.

Update: We’ve secured legal representation for Alan. With this development, the overall financial request has been reduced. However, we still need support to cover the remaining legal fees beyond the retainer.

I'm asking everyone to please share this campaign across all social media platforms to help raise awareness about Alan's situation. If you can’t donate, sharing is just as powerful—it spreads the word and brings us one step closer to justice.

Update on Alan:

Back in August, Alan’s lawyer submitted a mitigation letter to challenge the original plea deal of 15–40 years. This past Monday, the prosecutor responded, saying that after reviewing the letter, he’s willing to reduce the charges to 2 counts of second-degree assault and 1 count of transporting a firearm, with sentencing guidelines of 6 months–6 years. The plea offer expired today, and Alan decided to accept it rather than risk trial and the possibility of facing over 40 years.

Because of this, Friday’s scheduled hearing will be withdrawn. Instead, Alan’s October 20th trial date will now serve as the plea hearing, where the judge will determine the final sentence within that 6-month–6-year range.

The lawyer is preparing additional mitigation letters and a sentencing memorandum to recommend alternatives to jail time. We’re also collecting 2–3 strong character witness letters to highlight Alan’s character and community ties. Once the court date is confirmed, I’ll update you and spread the word so we can have as many people as possible present to show Alan is supported and loved.
