Afnan & Nour’s Family Fighting to Survive in Gaza

We are Afnan and Nour Rayyan—two women, and the pillars of a family of nine. For 22 months, we have been surviving genocide inside the walls of Gaza.

 Before:

Our home in North Gaza:

We live with our three children—Kinan, Mustafa, and Malak—and four other family members: our parents, our aunt and uncle. We have no safety. No rights. No peace. We are being bombed, starved, and silenced.

Every day, we wake up to destruction. The sound of drones. The ache of hunger. The fear that today might be the day we lose someone else.

Nour was married before the genocide began. Her husband has been missing for 22 months. We don’t know if he’s alive. We don’t know if he suffered. We only know that he’s gone—and that she is now raising their children alone, in a war zone.

We are trying to survive under the harshest conditions. Food prices in Gaza have skyrocketed. Rent is nearly impossible to afford. There is no work, no income, no aid. We are doing everything we can to protect our family, but we cannot do it alone.

They toll this is taking in the children is catastrophic as you can see by Kinan’s most recent photo:

This fundraiser will support our entire household—six adults and three children. Every donation will go toward:

  • Basic essentials like food, clean water, and medicine
  • Rent for shelter in a place that is still standing
  • The dignity of survival in a world that has turned its back on us

We are not asking for luxury. We are asking for life.

Please, if you can:

  • Donate whatever you’re able
  • Share our story with others
  • Help us stay alive

We are still here. We are still fighting. And we are holding on to hope because of people like you.

With love,
Afnan & Nour

Why the switch to SpotFund?
We have moved off of the GFM platform, possibly permanently as they have placed a freeze on Afnan's fundraiser and are withholding vital survival funds. We cannot risk this family's lives while they complete their internal process.  -Jess

An update from the Rayyan’s-

Hello to everyone who has supported me or continues to support me to this day. We have come a long way together and left behind a lot of fear, hunger, and displacement. I won't say the situation is perfect now, but it is much better than it was a while ago. The bombings are now less frequent, and there are two pieces of good news. First, I was able to enroll our children in schools over a month ago. I am trying to provide them with as much of a life as I can, similar to the lives of your children.

The second piece of news is that I've become an aunt for the fifth time, adding a new angel to the family who makes us forget the harshness of life around us. The only bad news is that winter has become a burden; we dread it and wait for it to leave quickly in this dilapidated house that barely stands on pillars cracked by bombing and time.

We need you again to get through this difficult phase, and we are confident that you will not let us down, as you never have before.

Thank you to everyone who was able to donate and share for the Rayyan family last week.

I wanted to let you know that I successfully transferred $2,000 to Afnan and they are now back at a zero balance. (Okay, they have $19)

As a reminder this is a 3 family fundraiser, and the “ceasefire” means nothing. There is no difference in their suffering. Did you know that 600 aid trucks should enter Gaza daily but only 150 are being allowed in? This means there’s not enough for everyone and what is available is still extremely expensive.

Do not forget Afnan and Nour as we enter this holiday season,  they need us now more than ever!

Thank you to those who were able to donate since our most recent update. Because of the way you showed up we’re only $25 (fees) away from being able to make a transfer of 2K to Afnan and the family.

Let me remind you that by making a single contribution you’ll be supporting 3 families. Don’t forget to share widely, they still need us so much.

Here’s a screenshot for transparency.

Hello friends. We are writing this with a heavy heart, as it has been a full seven days without a single donation. The families are still entirely reliant on our help for their most basic needs. We are currently $525 away from reaching our goal of transferring $2,000, which will immediately be used to purchase essential groceries and thick winter blankets for the children.

The devastating reality is that destruction remains, aid is not reaching them, and they are dependent on these funds to buy critical supplies that should be provided for free. Please do not hesitate to give even the smallest amount today, and more importantly, please share this link widely across all your networks. Every share brings us one step closer to making this crucial transfer. Thank you.

HELP AFNAN & NOUR TRAVEL SOUTH!

We don’t have much to say.

North Gaza has been cut off from the south once again. Anyone who remains in the north will be considered a combatant even the civilians.

Afnan and Nour are still stuck under constant bombardment and shelling. I have included a photo and recent video they sent me. (Bottom)

The Rayyan’s are currently unable to buy a tent or pay for transportation. They will leave on foot if we can’t help them hire a truck.

Please donate any amount to help save nine souls from certain death. Share as widely as you can.
