Afnan & Nour’s Family Fighting to Survive in Gaza

We are Afnan and Nour Rayyan—two women, and the pillars of a family of nine. For 22 months, we have been surviving genocide inside the walls of Gaza.

 Before:

Our home in North Gaza:

We live with our three children—Kinan, Mustafa, and Malak—and four other family members: our parents, our aunt and uncle. We have no safety. No rights. No peace. We are being bombed, starved, and silenced.

Every day, we wake up to destruction. The sound of drones. The ache of hunger. The fear that today might be the day we lose someone else.

Nour was married before the genocide began. Her husband has been missing for 22 months. We don’t know if he’s alive. We don’t know if he suffered. We only know that he’s gone—and that she is now raising their children alone, in a war zone.

We are trying to survive under the harshest conditions. Food prices in Gaza have skyrocketed. Rent is nearly impossible to afford. There is no work, no income, no aid. We are doing everything we can to protect our family, but we cannot do it alone.

They toll this is taking in the children is catastrophic as you can see by Kinan’s most recent photo:

This fundraiser will support our entire household—six adults and three children. Every donation will go toward:

  • Basic essentials like food, clean water, and medicine
  • Rent for shelter in a place that is still standing
  • The dignity of survival in a world that has turned its back on us

We are not asking for luxury. We are asking for life.

Please, if you can:

  • Donate whatever you’re able
  • Share our story with others
  • Help us stay alive

We are still here. We are still fighting. And we are holding on to hope because of people like you.

With love,
Afnan & Nour

We have moved off of the GFM platform, possibly permanently as they have placed a freeze on Afnan's fundraiser and are withholding vital survival funds. We cannot risk this family's lives while they complete their internal process.  -Jess

Fundraiser Updates (5)

March 04, 2026

Hello everyone, we are still $682 short of sending Afnan and the family $2K for March rent/Ramadan foods.

That’s 17 people x $40 each or any amount.

Please do anything you can to bring us closer to the goal. We are extremely worried about the situation as things became so difficult over the weekend.

Thank you all!

Hello everyone, I hope this Sunday update finds you well. I wanted to share these photos from Afnan, Nour, and their family.

It breaks my heart to see the condition of their Iftar—this is not enough food for nine people, especially growing children.

Seeing Malak wearing her outfit from last year, holding her Ramadan lantern, quietly broke me. The little girl in that tracksuit has experienced and seen things none of us will ever see in our lifetime. 💔 No child should go through Ramadan like this. She should have gifts, new clothing and an Iftar that can actually sustain her while she’s fasting.

As I shared before, we hoped to send another $2,000 for March, but we are falling short.

We are $1,025 short of sending funds — 13 people at $80 or 21 people at $50 closes this gap.

With crossings closed and overnight prices skyrocketing, merchants are pulling goods, markets are in chaos, and people are panic-buying in fear of famine. If you’ve been with this family for a long time, you remember what the last famine looked like. They don’t want to relive that.

If you have the capacity to give again, please do. It’s urgent that we show up for the Rayyans right now. During Ramadan, while they’re fasting and living under these conditions, even generosity that feels small makes a real difference.

Hello again and thank you to everyone who was able to donate over the weekend.

We still need about $1465 in order to initiate the next transfer for March. That’s just 29 people sending $50 each  or 50 people sending 29  whatever works!

Please continue to share their fundraiser and don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. They are busy every day trying to survive still. Don’t forget them.

Hello and happy Sunday!

Ramadan will begin next week and we wanted to thank you again for the donations we received and sent off to Afnan and the family.

We still need to raise $1707 within the next two weeks in order to send a second round of donations for March rent and essentials.

If just 34 people contributed $50 each we would easily achieve this goal. Even if 68 people sent $25 each we could cover Afnan and her family for another month.

As always, please do not forget that your weekly sacrifice makes a huge difference in the lives of nine family members who have nobody to rely on but us.

Share this update to help us reach as many people possible.

Thank you to everyone who was able to donate last week! I’ve initiated a $2500. wire to Afnan & the family for Ramadan.

This brings us to our next goal, need about 1900 in order to send another wire for March rent and essentials. I’d like to send 2K by March 1st

I will continue to post updates as we go. We have about 2 weeks to raise March funds. Exceeding the goal and finishing early is always welcome and appreciated.
