while recovering from her bone marrow transplant, Maddie’s family found out on May 8, 2024 that her cancer had returned. This was devastating news. Maddie’s care team has been searching far and wide for a plan of action. They have consulted numerous experts in the field and even reached out across the globe to different clinicians.

Truthfully, the prognosis is not good. the team has talked to their family about measures to extend Maddie’s time and quality of time with their family so she can stay out of the hospital as much as possible. They will be working to try to force graft versus host disease and hopes that it will attack the cancer so that they can get her into remission to be able to do a second bone marrow transplant. unfortunately, they would not be able to do as aggressive of a treatment this time. The team does not believe all hope is completely lost, but they do want to be realistic and make sure that whatever time is left with Maddie. She can spend it the way she wants.

That being said, her family is working on an across country trip to visit as many national parks as possible, which has always been a dream of their family as well as take her to Disney as they promised her back in the ICU. They will be traveling from Cleveland all the way to California and back in the near future.

Donations received on this page will go towards helping them cover those expenses as well as any other expenses that come up from medical bills as well as daily living expenses for time off work while traveling.

We feel very grateful for the pouring out of support that has come to us in so many forms as our family grieves situation we now face. we thank you for your prayers, the resources shared, as well as every other little thing that has been done to make our families life easier during this unthinkable and unfathomable time.

We hope to document our trip with Maddie and share it with the world so that they can see the light they have helped her to shine . God bless everyone and hold your loved ones tight - no day is promised

The family truly appreciates everyone’s generosity, love and kindness.  All the donations that you are so generously giving will help Rachael and Ron to take care of basic needs and bills during this time.

Please know the family expresses their extreme gratitude, although they have not been able to reach out to everyone who has donated individually, but they are beyond touched and grateful.

UPDATE 3/6/25 -

Maddie’s breathing is difficult and pains have gotten worse. Hospice came this morning. Maddie will not be getting platelets. They said she is beginning to transition. With this laboring, she may not make it through the weekend.  Anyone or any friends who would like to say goodbye this is your chance. She is in and out of consciousness but generally she can hear people talking.

I want her to feel loved. I want her to feel comforted. I want her to have peace and no more pain. I want her to see Jesus and for him to hold her and tell her how much she’s loved and cared for and for him to wipe all her tears and restore her broken body.

I want to be strong so she doesn’t have to worry about her parents - I want her to know we are going to keep going and honor her.

Please pray for our strength and will to carry on. Please pray for supernatural peace and comfort -  Please let Gods will be done -please let this not tear our family apart but strengthen our bonds and commitment to healing.

Dear friends, family, and supporters,

With heavy hearts, we want to share an update about our beloved daughter, Maddie. In October, we received the devastating news that she had officially lost her battle with Hepatosplenic T-Cell Lymphoma (HSTCL). Just one year after her diagnosis, we’ve faced the unimaginable reality that there are no further treatment options or therapies that could offer her a cure.

Since her bone marrow transplant in February, our family has spent this year focused on creating memories together. With Maddie’s brother Ezekiel, we’ve traveled, laughed, and embraced every moment, cherishing the time we’ve had as a family. In December, after returning from what we knew would likely be our last trip, Maddie’s condition began to decline significantly. We made the difficult decision to move to home hospice care, providing her with comfort, love, and dignity in these final days.

At this point, we are counting days instead of weeks, and our hearts are broken beyond measure.

The kindness and generosity of so many have carried us through this incredibly challenging journey. Your donations and support have allowed us to be present with Maddie, to create moments of joy, and to focus on what matters most. We are forever grateful for everything you’ve done for us.

As we prepare for the inevitable, we are asking for your continued help. Your support will help us finalize Maddie’s arrangements and plan her celebration of life, where we will honor the incredible person she has been—her strength, her spirit, and the love she brought to our lives.

Thank you for being part of Maddie’s story and for standing with us during this unimaginable time. Your love and compassion mean more than words can express.

With gratitude,

Ron, Rachael, Ezekiel, and Maddie

After another scary weekend, Maddie is home. Results are back. It’s back even more than before- despite the chemo and interventions - now up to 2.8% disease even higher than right before bone marrow transplant. There are no more options. DLI no longer effective now that she’s nearly 100% donor bone marrow - doctor said her body is not strong enough to go through another transplant - they have 1 last ditch option- some chemo regiment that has only been tried on one person who ever had her disease and would require her to be in the hospital and could possibly make her feel sicker and weaker with no guarantees and unclear probability.

Ron and Rachael meet with the team again next week- and will speak to palliative care - see how they can make her comfortable - make final decisions.

God we know your ways are greater and want to taste its poison - but God if this is the only way would you grant her some small kindness - some sense of peace - please don’t let Maddie suffer.

Please continue to lift this sweet family up in prayer and surround them with love and support.

Maddie received her bone marrow transplant on 2/2/24 her family finds this date so special the way the numbers line up and also her kidney transplant when she was two was on 11/12/13 how divine! The transplant itself is the easy part - it’s almost like a fancy blood transfusion. The hard part is the weeks following when her counts drop, she sees the side effects of the chemo and radiation which can look like painful sores in her mouth, fevers, inability to eat, diarrhea , thick mucous that could make her nauseous or gag or puke (mucousitis) while we wait for her transplant to engraft. She must stay in the hospital until she has at least 3 weeks of her counts being 500 or above. Then she will be moved to Ronald McDonald house for another few weeks or so until she is fully in the clear by her medical team. All in all this is about 7-8 weeks so likely until the middle or end of March. They don’t usually retest the bone marrow until day 100 but because Maddie’s cancer is so rare and aggressive and shows signs of extreme growth the two weeks she was off chemo they will test it at day 30. We pray that it does not come back and that the new immune system will have done its job. Her medical team Dr. Villagomez (oncology) and Dr. Hema (BMT) at Narionwide Children’s Hospital have been amazing as have the nurses, PCA and all the other care team members. We thank everyone near and far for your continued support and love, which has made it so special and possible for us to be present with her during this unprecedented time. It’s truly a blessing from God and all of you to be able to cherish these moments with her and together as a family. Thank you so very much!
