Friends,
For those who know me, you would know that 1) I am not always the biggest fan of online "asks," and I very rarely ask for anything because it's hard and uncomfortable, but I am going to try and help a friend.
My friend Randy (Ralph) Ades is an adjunct math instructor where I teach at COC. He had a medical crisis beginning last fall and as a result had to leave all of his classes and all of his schools. Adjuncts can only receive medical insurance at some schools, but if they are not teaching, they can't get anything. And there are no emergency funds.
Randy was in kidney failure. He's about to become homeless after trying to tackle everything in our "government" systems (e.g. disability and social security). He is working on getting his doctor to write that darn letter. In the meantime he has to pay rent, gas, food, medical, phone, internet, etc. All the finances of daily living. If there is a way to get him a couple of months so he can sort things out, we might be able to prevent him from becoming homeless. I'm concerned on every level, so I humbly ask that if any of you can do ANYTHING that would be amazing.
Bless you for anything you can do.
Victoria
