Help Anika Stay at Berklee College of Music
My name is Anika Locke, and I am a 19-year-old artist from the Bay Area and a rising sophomore at Berklee College of Music, where I major in Music Business while building my artist project full-time.
Berklee has been my dream school since I was a kid. Before I ever stepped foot on campus, I was working restaurant shifts to save enough money to afford studio time, release music independently, and create the music video that helped me apply to my dream school. Then my first year completely changed my life. I found a community of musicians, producers, and friends who have become my closest collaborators and creative family. And with Berklee’s unique resources, we have written and produced music that is already beginning to gain traction.
Over the past year, I have released 3+ songs, maintained good grades, begun attracting attention from major record labels for my original music, and have grown my social media presence to over 3 million views across platforms, by sharing my original music and journey at Berklee. This past year has allowed me to grow tremendously as an artist, musician, and person.
Unfortunately, the cost of tuition is now standing between me and continuing this journey. I am incredibly grateful for my mother, a single mom who works tirelessly to support my sister and I, but Berklee's tuition is more than our family can realistically afford.
I am hoping to raise $50,000, which represents the remaining tuition even after scholarship that I need to continue my education at Berklee for the upcoming year. I know times are tough, and asking for help isn’t easy. Every dollar will go directly towards my Berklee tuition. I am putting everything I have into chasing my dreams, and endlessly appreciate any support.
Leaving Berklee because of finances would be heartbreaking. I have finally found a place where I can fully pursue what I am most passionate about, and I am asking for your help to keep that opportunity alive.
