. I am a single parent resident of the Uptown Minneapolis building that was hit with gunfire last night. I had just moved from sitting where the bullets came in, to get my child out of the bathtub and ready for reading before bed, when I heard a barrage of bullets and the sound of shattering glass. I instantly yelled to my child to drop down. Seconds later, another barrage of bullets sounded and the fire alarm started going off. One of the bullets pierced the fire sprinkler line, causing immediate and severe flooding of our unit and the unit next to mine. My child and I just moved to Minnesota 3 weeks ago and were assured by property management that the area was safe. Two major shootings in 2 days and the 2nd nearly killed my child and I.
After the assessment of the apartment I was not able to salvage much. At this point it is a total loss. We lost everything. We just moved here from California 3 weeks ago,no family,no friends, No support what so ever.
