Finally Securing a Safe Space: Help Me Cover the Move
I am a 37-year-old Black trans man, and after a long stretch of instability and survival mode, I have finally secured a housing voucher for a small apartment. Getting the voucher was a massive victory, but actually executing the move is a huge financial and physical hurdle.
Right now, the packing process is draining my limited energy. I have to sort through a very messy storage locker to get my things ready. Because I do not drive, I am forced to travel entirely by foot—trekking through the woods and then all the way through town just to get to the storage facility to pack.
Dealing with chronic pain and these severe logistical limitations means I absolutely cannot safely execute the final move on my own. On top of that, we are in the middle of a brutal summer heatwave, and the new 400 sq. ft. apartment does not have air conditioning.
I am raising $1,400 to cover the immediate, upfront costs of this transition so I can finally get into my new home safely.
Here is exactly what the funds will cover:
* $800 for Local Movers: To hire a crew to transport my bed and boxes from the facility to the apartment. My physical health makes doing this heavy lifting impossible.
* $350 for an AC Unit: To buy and deliver a 10,000 BTU air conditioner so the new apartment is actually livable during this heatwave.
* $250 for Food & Daily Essentials: To cover meals and basic personal necessities to keep me going while I handle the physical toll of packing and transitioning.
This fund is the bridge between where I am now and finally having a permanent, locked door. Every single donation goes directly toward getting me out of the elements and into a safe, secure space.
Thank you for having my back.
