We're so excited for you to be a part of the next chapter of our lives, welcoming baby girl Juniper into our hearts and family.
We have decided to utilize the amazing birth resources available in Austin such as a doula team, midwife and home birth plan. These decisions are extremely personal to us and seem to be the right fit for our growing family. Unfortunately, giving birth in our country under any circumstance but especially with added resources puts a financial strain on a young family.
That's why we would love for your support in bringing baby Juni into this world!
We decided on a home birth plan because our family really values warmth and comfort. Kurren knew early on that pain intervention was not an option she was interested in so we started researching the various options of how babies are born in the world! We decided we want to bring baby girl into this world in the most welcoming way possible and what better way than in our own home?? In addition, midwifery is the most common practice all over the world in baby delivery even though it is not as common in the United States. We researched extremely qualified providers and decided to team up with our midwife Stephanie Berry (https://www.calyxaustin.com/bastrop-midwife) during our prenatal care and she will be welcoming our baby into the world when she is born.
We also have decided to pursue birth and postpartum doula care to provide extra support in the ever changing landscape that is becoming parents for the first time. We have been working with Nest and Bowl (https://www.nestandbowl.com/) for prenatal classes and they will assist in covering all of our emotional and physical needs during the actual birth. They will also offer us in home care and support during the transitional first six weeks after birth. Their knowledge, support, conversation and community has been such a pillar of our prenatal time and we both feel so grateful to be able to participate in something so informative and nourishing.
We understand that our choices are unconventional and may even be surprising to some but we truly feel these are the best options for us. We want Juniper to feel loved, comforted and cherished during her whole birth process and with your support we will be able to more easily make that happen. Please donate what you can and we hope to see you soon!
