November is national diabetes awareness month. Almost 7 years ago my son Connor was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes just a month after he turned 18. It was during his senior year of high school when he busy with school and sports, life was full. Type 1 diabetes is caused by an auto immune reaction causing the body to destroy the cells in the pancreas that make insulin. Type 1 diabetes can not be reversed, symptoms of type 2 diabetes may improve with lifestyle changes.
Connor has dealt with his diagnosis with strength and grace never complaining. The necessary changes he made to be healthy were difficult especially as a college bound teenager and now as a young adult. It is a life long diagnosis full of choices and decisions every day. I’m so proud of him and hope you will join me in recognizing those with diabetes and their fight to be healthy.
Each personal donation will be entered into a raffle to win a $50 Amazon gift card. Please have some fun and help to raise money for diabetes care and research.
