Help a broke college student get a new car!
I would like to preface this by saying that you should always carry a penny in your shoe!
I was on my way to a music festival in northern California excited to listen to some music and enjoy the redwoods when disaster struck. I was two hours in and 1.3 miles away from my destination when I underestimated a turn and tried to break when my breaks gave way (I knew the brakes were faulty coming into the drive but I never thought that they would do me dirty like this). I was almost fully turned when off the cliff I went, somersaulting off the precipice and down 15 feet. Lowkey the movies are accurate when they show the shattered glass moving in slow motion. Thankfully, I landed tires down so I was able to climb over the glass, grab the essentials, and climb out of the pit, which was covered in poison oak. Since there was no cell reception, I left my car and walked the 1.3 miles to the music festival. During the walk, I felt something poking me in my right shoe but thought it was just a rock that landed there but after I arrived with my friends, and went to take off my shoes, I found that it wasn't a rock. A penny fell out of my shoe!
I came out of the wreck unscathed thanks to that penny but sadly my trusty blue prius took a hit and is totaled. I am raising money to help pay for a car so that I can get to work and bring it with me to school in a couple months.
