I'm raising funds for my top surgery.
This is something I've dreamed of for myself for about 15 years now, dreamed of with a deep longing for something I wasn't sure I would ever be able to have, never be able to feel, never be able to actualize, but now is the time, I hope.
My plan is to raise as much funding as I can through peer-to-peer donations within my community, and then cover the remainder of the costs through a community fund designed to provide direct support for gender affirming surgery and emergency relief to trans Mainers.
I've had really limited access to heath care for most of my life, and never imagined I would be able to access this type of affirming and life-saving care. Asking for help scares me, having to navigate the heath care industrial complex scares me, but I know this is what I need, and I'm doing my best attempt at bravery to advocate for myself and trust I will be supported.
These funds will go directly to towards the costs of surgery, as well as funding the after-care and recovery period when I won't be able to work.
