gain. is a gym and fitness space that will address the need for a movement studio catering specifically to women of all ages in Atlanta. It will provide a range of services tailored to women, including group fitness classes, prenatal and postpartum training, yoga, kickboxing, strength training for all levels, and a strong sense of community.
gain. is led by Katie Wetzel and Erin McDevitt with their expertise in fitness instruction and project management. Over the last three years, Katie and Erin have led over 6,000 individual training sessions and taught thousands of group fitness, yoga and dance classes. They have also started to lead gain.-branded fitness classes in Atlanta, building gain.'s community and fostering brand awareness and familiarity ahead of the brick and mortar location's opening. gain. strength, the 6-week program Katie and Erin currently lead from their home gym, has proven the demand for such classes for women in Atlanta. The two instances of the program to date both sold out nearly instantly, and all proceeds from these programs are going to make the gain. brick and mortar gym a reality.
gain. will build on our existing client-base located strategically in an underserved fitness market in Atlanta. We will be within an easy commuting distance for our existing clients, and a favorable location for new clientele and word-of-mouth exposure.
We plan to open our doors in a 1,592 square foot facility that features a versatile and accessible space for classes and exercise, free parking, a comfortable and clean environment, and ADA accessible restrooms. The natural light combined with our modern touches and intentional flair will make the space feel inclusive and inviting, without feeling pretentious or unattainable. The environment will facilitate hard work and also celebration (you know there will be disco balls and neon signs).
gain. empowers women in their fitness journeys. The smaller class sizes, women-focused offerings, personalized attention, and inclusion set it apart from other gyms in the area that overlook what women are seeking in their fitness experiences. The services address issues like intimidation, lack of community, and difficulty making fitness progress that cater specifically to female bodies. Our studio will also serve as a network to connect the local community, and as a resource for referrals to like-minded health and wellness professionals.
The problem we want to solve + need you for:
- Banks don't favor start-ups like ours. While gain. is a brand new business, we have years of combined experience in movement and movement education.
- For the same reasons above, we haven't been able to secure a significant enough line of credit to cover the costs of opening a brick and mortar location.
- For those same reasons, we're ineligible for many small business loans.
- Unfortunately, many of the resources specifically created for women-owned businesses and small businesses, are made for people who can prove 3+ years in business, or other qualifications we just don't meet.
Where we are now:
- We’ve recently come across new information about some incredible grants for women-owned small businesses, for which we’re currently applying.
- We’ve established a business bank account and secured a moderate line of credit that will cover a portion of our start-up costs.
- We've been raising funds throughout 2024 via gain.-branded events, pop-ups, and bootcamps, all of which will be put toward our start-up costs.
- We’re in the final stretch of securing a lease on a space that we think is ideal for our brick and mortar gym, and finalizing plans on a start-up process and location build-out that will cost about $125,000 in total.
So we've got a gap to fill and here's how you can help:
We are gratefully accepting donations from our community and supporters of our vision to create this incredible space for women to move safely and confidently, in the city of Atlanta.
