I am a combat veteran and a father. My daughters mother and I are not together. I had 50/50 custody until my combat PTSD hit me extremely hard and suicide looked like the only cure. I thought it would be better for my daughter if I was not here.
I was admitted to a VA hospital for a year, and I learned how to cope with PTSD. Because I was admitted, the mother of my daughter will not let me see or talk to my daughter who is 10 now. Furthermore, I am required to pay for "Re-Integration Therapy" in order to be part of my daughters life which is very expensive and I cannot even come close to making enough to afford.
I am looking for help to afford an attorney, re-integration therapy, and travel from South Dakota to Castle Rock, CO every two weeks for re-integration therapy.
- Suicide from the darkness of combat took its toll in April 2017
- Hospitalized for a year
- Mother will not let me talk or see my daughter in over three years
- No criminal record. The only thing bad I did was ask for help with my PTSD to preent suicide
- I desperatley need my daughter in my life as she is the "world" to me!!!! I know she is wondering why her dad just disapeared one day
- I was raised without a dad and I know how much this hurts
- Money would be used to hire an attorney, pay for re-integration therapy and travel from South Dakota where I live to Denver where my daughter lives
- Its been three years since I spoke or was able to see my daughter. I cannot go on with this much longer
- I make 10.95 per hour and a volunteer firefighter.
