On Sunday, January 12, 2025, my beautiful, loving soul sister and best friend Amy was found by her family unable to speak or stand.  She was rushed to Henry Heywood Hospital in Gardner where she was diagnosed with a blood clot in her brain and life flighted to UMass Worcester.

If she survives the brain swelling and other complications, she is facing a long road back.   She will be unable to work her new part time job teaching physical fitness in Amherst, or her fulltime job at the Gardner CAC.

All the money raised will go towards Amy's medical expenses and covering the family's everyday needs, including ramps, food, therapy, and the kids' schooling. A single ramp can cost upwards of $4k, not to mention gas to get back and forth to therapy, potential modifications to living spaces, the medical bills that are going to rack up, and everyday living expenses like grocery bills for two teenagers.

Amy's smile lit up a room. Right now she is unable to smile.  Please Help Amy Smile Again.  Anything will help.  There is power in numbers.

Great News! Amy's feeding tube was removed last week! The wound is healing, and she is eating pureed foods! She still has to have her liquids thickened or she will aspirate them, but huge step forward. The plan is to bring her home sometime late September/ early October. Construction is starting on Thumper and Amy's apartment.  Unfortunately, her left arm will require surgery to restore mobility, but that is a future problem. Thank you to everyone who has supported her.  Your generosity and positive energy have made an absolutely unthinkable, devastating situation a little easier.

4 months and 10 days in, Amy is working hard to get back on her feet. She has movement back in her leg, and has begun PT therapy to get her sitting and standing under her own power. AND she was actually able to swallow a spoonful of pudding! She is exhausted by the end of every session, but the work is starting to pay off.

Your cards, letters, drawings, and pictures line the walls of her room, encouraging her to keep going. She's still unable to speak, which is frustrating for her, but the reminders of all the people puling for her help keep her spirits up during the long days and nights.

Plans have begun on remodeling a ground floor apartment so that when the time comes, she can move home. Please keep sending the positive energy her way. She needs all of us now.

HI Everyone.  Just a quick update on Amy's condition: She was moved late last night to a rehabilitation facility in Gardner closer to her home. She is tired but in good spirits.

She still cannot eat, swallow, speak, or use her left hand, but she is able to open her eyes, move her left leg, and is starting to get use of some of the muscles in her face back. She's starting to be able to smile again. The doctors are "cautiously optimistic" about her long-term progress.  So keep the positive energy coming her way and spread the word.  Amy is a fighter.  With work, she may be able to fully smile again.

Hello Everyone. In the last 24 hours I have talked to many new people, and seen many old friends giving to support Amy and her family.  Thank you!
Unfortunately, there has been little improvement in Amy's condition. She is still in ICU and they are still restricting visitors to minimize her stimulation. I will keep everyone updated as time goes on, and hopefully we will all be able to see her smiling again.
PLEASE Keep the support, prayers and positive thoughts going. Spread this to everyone that you know.
