Samuel, accompanied by his girlfriend and mother of his children, McKenzie, as well as two friends, embarked on a boating expedition to Put-in-Bay, Ohio on July 11, 2023. The anticipation was high for Samuel, as he had recently rebuilt the boat engine and eagerly awaited the opportunity to test it out. After enjoying a few hours on Put in Bay Island, they decided to call it a night and began to head home. At around 10:30 PM, a boating excursion turned into a devastating event that left a community in shock and a family shattered. What should have been a peaceful evening on the water turned tragedy Samuel went overboard.
Despite a relentless search by Coast Guard, National Guard, helicopters, divers, sonar, local boaters, Royal Canadian Air Force, Aircrafts from Cape Cod Massachusetts, and concerned community members, Samuel remained missing for five agonizing days. Every effort was made to locate him, with hopes and prayers being offered from all corners of the United States and Canada. Unfortunately, on July 16, 2023, the search came to a heart-wrenching conclusion when Samuel was discovered near Rattlesnake Island, a painful confirmation that he had succumbed to the elements.
