I am desperately asking for help to save my sweet boy, Duke. He is a 10 year old Newfie / Black Lab who has never had any medical issues until three days ago. My family and I have him with a Rover and she has been nothing but extremely helpful and going above and beyond to be with him while I cannot. I am currently out of town struggling to make my way back home to be with him. I have been out at sea with my family with limited to no connectivity and this has been the hardest experience to go through. They cannot quite identify what the issues are but he is having an elevated heart rate, blood pressure has been dropping and then back up again, now saying he is retaining water in the form of an edema. He started out at an emergency clinic and then was transferred to a specialist for better x-rays, staffing and fluids. Since three days ago, Duke and I have accumulated a very large medical bill. Currently, we are at $17,182 with possibility of that increasing on Dukes status. From speaking to the vets on call and the specialists, he is progressing but still not all the way there and praying desperately for a speedy and healthy recovery. Duke is my first dog and has been my emotional support buddy through many things in the last five years. I adopted him from a very bad situation and have cared for him and have created such a beautiful bond, we are connected. It has been my worst nightmare not being there for him. Initially I thought it was anxiety and fear of abandonment and has progressed into where we are right now. My flight is not until tomorrow (9/8/25) which will bring my family and I home to be with him. Constantly praying that he will be alright soon.  Any assistance is sincerely appreciated and welcomed.
