First-ever FAA-approved Pyro-Laser show from an aircraft in the USA!
|
This first-ever show took place at Burning Man in August 2024 and consisted of laser and lighting effects and fireworks launched from the aircraft North of Black Rock City. The show was controlled in the aircraft by pilots CC Pocock and Christi Masi. Making all this possible was mainly due to CC's many years of experience in laser, lighting, sound, and pyrotechnic special effects.
The airplane operated out of the Black Rock City Airport (88NV).
Lasers and lights are controlled by Christi on a laptop PC mounted to the instrument panel. CC flies the plane and controls the pyrotechnics. Many more modifications are planned for future shows, including special higher-power lasers.
The project idea originated in December 2022. Many hundreds of hours and thousands of $ was spent on modifications, flight testing, rehearsals, and approvals.
Plans are currently underway to bring the show back to Burning Man in August 2026.

Due to Burning Man's policy regarding commercial advertising, it is not possible to have a corporate sponsor; therefore, we need to try to raise sufficient funding to cover the costs of new, more powerful laser and lighting equipment to bring this show back in 2026.
