After more than 47 years of extraordinary service, our longtime Club Steward, Dennis Normile, has decided to retire at the conclusion of this Princeton academic year.
For generations of Cap members, Dennis has been far more than a steward. He has been a mentor, a steady presence, a trusted leader, andâquite simplyâthe backbone of the Club. From guiding undergraduate officers, to supporting our staff, to welcoming alumni back home to Prospect Avenue, Dennis has shaped the Cap & Gown experience in ways that are hard to fully capture in words.
Dennis joined Cap in 1979 as just the fourth Steward in the Clubâs history. Over nearly five decades, he helped modernize the clubhouse, elevate the culinary program, oversee major renovations and expansions, and lead Cap through enormous changes on campusâall while preserving the spirit and traditions that make Cap special. Along the way, he built a professional reputation as one of New Jerseyâs most accomplished chefs and educators and became an accomplished artist and musician! During this time, he never lost sight of what mattered most: the people who call Cap home.
