Our home burned down today. As I’m sitting here in this hotel room, processing everything my family went through today, it’s devastating. My family is alive and safe, and at the end of the day, that’s ALL that matters.
I consider myself one of the luckier people in life when it comes to having a village, and I will brag on that because my village showed up for my family today. So many people have reached out, and that means the world to us! We have a long road ahead of us as we work to get back to some sense of normalcy, but we are so grateful for everyone who has been there for us.
This home is the only home my kids have ever known, and even though it’s all material things, it’s still very sad knowing that all of their stuff is gone. So many memories were made in that house, and it’s heartbreaking to know that we won’t be going back home to the place we’ve always known. But we are together, we are safe, and we will get through this one day at a time.
