The ALA Varsity Lady Basketball Team is working hard to raise funds to support their athletic director, Mr. Booker. Mr. Booker was recently diagnosed with stomach cancer for the second time. Mr. Booker is selfless, loving, and supportive. Even with this diagnosis and treatment, he still shows up to every game any of his athletes have. Sick or not, he is always giving them guidance, love, and a quick joke to keep their heads in the game.
Mr. Booker took this position at our school two years ago. Prior to that, our athletic department was failing. Our kids were ready to quit playing. Mr. Booker came in and changed the dynamic. He turned our athletic department into a family. Now it's his turn to receive the blessings of the family he created.
The girls' basketball team donated $133 from their own Christmas money and savings and purchased the fresh, gluten-free foods he is required to eat now. However, those groceries are almost gone. Mr. Booker will also need support paying his living expenses as he will be taking a leave of absence without pay. Any support you can give will be such a blessing for Mr. Booker to beat this cancer again!
