My name is Maria Cruz. I’m a Louisiana native who is currently studying Vocal Performance at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. I am a huge advocate on experiencing new things as a way to continue my educational journey and make connections in a quite competitive field of study. I have fortunately been accepted to the Harrower Opera Summer Program in Atlanta - a 3-week long Opera intensive with training from Grammy-nominated faculty and extremely talented musicians and staff.
Of course with every great experience there is the financial side to it. While I am fortunate to have been offered this opportunity, I am a full-time, first-generation college student with a part-time job. Your donation, not matter what size, will help me reach my goal for the following:
Enrollment Deposit: $250
Tuition: $1800
Housing and Meal Plan: TBD (they will begin sending out a spreadsheet of cost for housing and meal plans in early March. Based off of previous attendees I presume the cost of housing will be around $900+ and a few hundred for the meal plan.)
Extra: Anything more than this would help tremendously to offset the cost of living that I will still be responsible for back home in Louisiana during these three weeks.
As a person who grew up in a small town in south Louisiana with a dream to be a singer, I would never have imagined that I’d be presented with an opportunity quite like this. The opportunity to study with this faculty and gain performance experience would mean the world to me.
