Lilly June was born premature at just 26 weeks (1 pound 6 ounces). She suffers from a rare form of congenital hyperinsulinism, which occurs in 1 in 50,000 births. Her body produces too much insulin, causing her blood sugar to drop to dangerous levels. At just five months old, she was put on a life flight and flown to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. There, her pancreas was removed in an effort to mitigate its excessive insulin production and was given for research.
With only 2 percent of the vital organ left, Lilly June is still producing too much insulin. She has a gastroenterology tube implanted into her stomach to constantly give her calories so her sugar-level stays normal — so that her brain does not swell and she does not have seizures that can be fatal.
Due to a decline in her health and the rareness of her condition, Lilly June is going to be life flighted back to Philadelphia Children’s Hospital. Please say a prayer & share her story! Anything would help and be greatly appreciated.
