Help My Mom Heal: Support Her During a Medical Crisis

Hi, my name is Alexis, and I’m creating this SpotFund for my incredible mom, Natalie.

On May 4th, 2004, my mom’s life changed forever. She was a passenger in a car that was hit by a dump truck. The accident was devastating—she flatlined and was in a coma for 7 days. When she woke up, she was bedridden in a back brace, heavily medicated, and unable to move. Doctors told her she wouldn’t be able to walk after the age of 30.

But if you know Natalie, you know that she is a fighter through and through.

Shortly after the accident, she gave birth to her youngest child. She stopped all medications cold turkey and started doing strength training to rebuild her body and spirit. She was determined to prove the doctors wrong—and she did. She went on to live a full and active life for the next 18 years, pouring her heart into serving others and living each day with purpose and faith.

Natalie has always given her all to the people around her. She’s spent years volunteering in our community, working with inner-city youth, creating job opportunities for people who’ve been overlooked or cast aside by the system. She’s been a steady light for so many—offering support, mentorship, and love wherever it was needed. Through it all, she’s remained grounded in her faith, always believing God was walking beside her.

But now, she needs our help.

Since December 15th, 2024, Natalie has been out of steady work due to health issues. She’s been doing odd jobs to stay afloat—mostly helping elderly people in their homes. Even when her body was failing her, she kept going just to make ends meet.

Just about two months ago, on the first day with a new client, within 15 minutes, her leg gave out, and she tore ligaments in her ankle. But instead of going home, she stayed. She finished the job in pain, limping through the day just to keep her word and earn her pay. Later that night, she went to the ER, where they placed her on crutches and in a brace. But with no income and no safety net, she couldn’t afford to rest—she had to keep working, even without the brace, just to have enough to eat.

In the past few months, her condition has worsened drastically. She began losing feeling in her arms and legs, experiencing swelling, numbness, weakness, and frequent falls. Then on June 3rd, she was rushed to the hospital by ambulance—unable to move.

Doctors diagnosed her with degenerative disc disease, with deterioration in the C4-C5, C5-C6, and L5-S1 discs in her spine. The nerve damage has caused extreme pain, numbness in all limbs, and near-total immobility.

Right now, Natalie can’t work. She’s in constant pain, and basic movement is a challenge. But the bills haven’t stopped—and neither have the worries. Rent, utilities, food, and medical costs are all adding up quickly.

We’re asking, from the bottom of our hearts, for any support you can give. Whether it’s $5, $50, or sharing this fundraiser with others—every single bit helps. Your kindness will allow my mom to rest, receive the care she needs, and take her first steps (literally and emotionally) toward healing.

Thank you for standing with my mom during this painful chapter. She has spent her life giving to others. Now, we have a chance to give back to her.

With love and gratitude,

Alexis and Family
