This is our daughter Annabelle, She is 12 years old and has Spastic Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy and Epilepsy. Annabelle was born at 29 weeks and spent 3 months in the NICU at Children's Hospital in Omaha before we got to bring her home. Everyday since has been an uphill battle for our little angel. She has overcome over a dozen surgeries and multiple chronic illnesses. Annabelle is one of the happiest kids on earth. She smiles and giggles everyday, even when having a rough day she still manages to find a way to smile. Annabelle also has the incredible ability to make anyone who meets her smile. She loves to blow kisses and be everyone's best friend.
We are blessed everyday we have with our beautiful angel. As Annabelle has gotten older and her condition has progressed, She now has to undergo another major surgery, In the next few months Annabelle will be undergoing a major back surgery to straighten an extensive curve in her spine. As a result of this surgery, Annabelle will become very rigid. This will do wonders for her quality of life, as she will hopefully be able to sit up straighter and interact more with the world around her. Unfortunately, for us, this will make her transfers increasingly difficult. Our beautiful pre-teen is growing bigger everyday and with that comes the need for her to be transferred and moved predominantly in her tilting wheel chair. Right now Annabelle's main mean of transportation is our standard minivan that is too old and has too many miles to be converted to a wheelchair accessible van. We are currently lifting Annabelle into her Special needs car seat, then taking her wheel chair to the back of the van and lifting into the tailgate area. Not only is this becoming more difficult for us as her chairs become bigger and heavier, the transfers are and will continue to become increasingly harder on Annabelle after her surgery. It is for these main reasons we have started this fundraiser for a new conversion van.
