Oisin Daly- you all might know him as DJ OCEANMAN -the beautiful soul behind the music that put our Greek Independence Day celebrations on the map this year, has left us too soon. 38 years on this planet wasn’t enough time to spread all of his goodness- but he left us all better people for having known him. His amazing wife Vanessa needs our help navigating all of the unexpected expenses she is facing during this unimaginable loss. We’ve started a GoFundMe for her, for whoever would like to donate. We appreciate the outpouring of love and prayers that she’s already received. ❤️ Be safe, and love on your loved ones.

I wanted to take a moment and thank everyone endlessly who has not only so generously and gracefully given a donation, but also shared this page.

It is a strange time…. We spent 15 years in this city together. The whole city is a layered quilt of beautiful moments, and a tapestry of memories.

Yesterday I went out to walk with my sister and I cried maybe 7 times. Everywhere I go, I see someone who tackles me with a hug so full of love and grief. It is beautiful, and very overwhelming….

I understand it, and I really appreciate it, but after an hour I want to run back home…

Sometimes, I get stabbed in the gut with the questions…

“What happened? How did he die? How did you find him? How long has he been dead? How many years were you together? What did he die from?”

…lately… often… I feel like I can’t breathe... like a graceful facade and response slips through my fingers like water.

Falling apart in front of strangers terrifies me.

I want to go back to work but I go to the store for 30 minutes and start crying. I’m taking a walk in the park and thick tears roll down my face.

Leaving my house is still extremely difficult. I have decided a night job is impossible at this moment. So I'm looking for a morning job. I'm used to getting out of work at midnight or 1am.

Each night I would write him:

“Baby, I’m done, be home soon.”

“My love, I’ll be home in 15. I miss you“.

“Baby, where are you? Are you ok?”

And only after a reply I would feel at ease.

We looked after each other and checked on each other every single night. You would see him out, but he was texting me that he was ok and where he was, and I him.

I am so used to working a night job 5 or 6 nights a week. Then working a morning job, and then writing articles for extra income. This fear and paralysis and grief has taken me by the throat… and I have nothing but a million thank yous.

I want to work again, to go out again, to regain my life… But crying at home is easier right now, and my hands are gripping at any comfort like life depends on it.

I love you. Thank You

Here is a picture of Oisin serenading our cat, Tommy. This is also the room where I found him dead, thinking he was peacefully sleeping.

Within the darkness that doesn’t let me breathe… there has been flowers, love and kindness pouring into that extremely painful void.

Friends and family have flooded me with love to keep me from drowning. Distractions, food, hugs, tears… more hugs, more tears.

I have left my house 3 times since it happened. Going anywhere is terrifying, and with this you have allowed me the dignity to stay at home and continue grieving in peace. To pay for arrangements, to only worry about what to do now without the love of my life… instead of everything else that comes with that.

Elena called me and said “I’d like to do this” and asked me “I need a goal amount”. And I said 13, because in a couple of months we would be celebrating 13 years married.

Thank you is too simple a word. Too mundane, but please know that gratitude is flooding out of me and every moment of despair is lessened with your kindness.

Thank you for holding my hand. For honoring him, even if you didn’t know me. There are not enough words.

The funeral will be on July 8th, from 1 to 3pm, at “Families First Funeral Home”. located at 1328 Dean Forest Road in Savannah. This will be followed by a Celebration of Life at the Sexton Irish Pub.

I love you

Thank you
