Today I’m writing to ask for your help and prayers for my husband, Randy Fix.

I’m humbly asking for your help via Prayers and to request that you please find it in your heart to share my post on your own FB page.

If you’re able to bless us with a monetary donation my husband and I would be grateful and appreciate your kindness.  Any amount that you can financially afford to donate would be helpful.  I have also included my VENMO information if you feel called to donate using that app instead of the *spotfund account.  Thank you all for taking the time to read my post. 🙏🏼

I’m going to share our story by being transparent regarding how we have found ourselves in this position of having to ask for help to begin with.

In early June, Randy fell down sliding in a muddy spot close to a curb in a parking lot.   He laid there unconscious for only God knows how long until he was discovered by someone.  Just on the surface Randy’s right foot appeared to have been severely damaged and he had a huge bump on his head.  I was contacted and took Randy to the emergency room.  About 5 hours latter after every test that you could imagine had been done.  A Doctor entered the room and advised me to have a seat.

The Doctor began with the damage done to Randy’s right foot.  Results were determined that he had broken his large toe and had some fractured bones on the top of his foot.

The Doctor proceeded to then talk about the blood work, CT scans, x-rays, and all of the other test that they had done.

The Doctor then asked if we knew that Randy had Cirrhosis of the Liver.  My answer; No.   As tears began to roll down my face, my heart racing.  The Doctor began to ask if we had noticed any unusual signs and or symptoms.  He proceeded to list them.  Most of my answers were yes.  I advised However; it didn’t seem to be anything alarming enough to go to the Doctor at the time.

We were told that the brain scans didn’t look good either.  Keep in mind Randy is only 64 years old.  The Doctor stated that his brain scans looked like a brain of an 84 year old person.

After fighting through all of my tears and trying to calm my mind and heart racing.  I soon realized Randy may not ever recover from this.

That’s when it dawned on me.  I started to think back on the last 6 months or so the subtle changes that didn’t seem to be a problem at the time in recognizing there was a problem with Randy’s short term memory.  I guess I just didn’t think about it at the time as being an issue when Randy had started with not remembering conversations that we had talked about.  Making basic decisions about our house hold and then being told by Randy I wasn’t communicating with him about simple things that would occur in our day to day lives.

Randy had previously been diagnosed 2 - 3 years ago with COPD and uses oxygen and inhalers when needed.  He has had rheumatoid arthritis for many years now controlled with medication.

The Doctor advised when it was time to release Randy from the hospital that Randy needed to be placed in a short term care facility due to his lack of mobility and his memory loss.

Randy is a US Veteran. My first contact was with our local VA nursing home for their short term care facility.

Randy had to be placed on a waiting list and was sent to another care facility due to the VA not having any beds available at that time.

After 15 days in the short term care facility I was told Randy would need to be placed in a long term care facility when he had not improved with his short term memory loss declining even more than before.  Also his mobility had not improved enough for day to day basics like walking, feeding or bathing himself.

After a short waiting period the Veterans Nursing home finally had an available bed/room for him.  Randy now has the best long term care that he can possibly receive compared to the other facility. 🙏🏼Thank God.

On Monday 8/7 I received more bad news about my husband Randy.  After some blood work and CT scans being done recently because of his COPD.  The Doctor found a Lung Nodule on one of his lungs.  I will be meeting with the Doctor and his staff soon to discuss further testing for a biopsy.  First, the Doctor will do testing to determine if the Nodule is Benign or Cancerous.

August 10;  I took Randy to the Dentist due to a few of his teeth hurting him. The Dentist found that Randy has two cracked teeth.  He needs two crowns and one root canal to fix his teeth.  We don’t have dental insurance.  I don’t have the money to pay for this work that he needs to fix his teeth.  It’s going to cost $2699.00.  I was told that it has to be paid upfront before the Dentist will fix his teeth.

On June 7, At the time when Randy was admitted to the hospital initially I was working a full time job.  I had health insurance.  Randy had to retire a few years ago due to health issues.  I had been the main source of income for our household.

On July 21, I was fired from my job.  I find myself alone without Randy at home.  Due to the fact that I can’t take care of his healthcare needs.  And now, I don’t have a job to financially support Randy, myself or to pay my bills.

I am actively looking for another job.
I need to pay Medical Bills, my Mortgage and basic bills just to keep a float month to month until I find another job.  I don’t see this as long term issue.  I have a good resume and a successful track record of experience in the medical field.  I will find another job and get back on my feet financially.  I just need help right now.

This is a very hard thing to do.  Putting my personal struggles online for the world to see and having to ask for help to get through it.

Randy, myself and my family have prayed and prayed for a miracle for Randy to get well enough to return home.  We believe in the power of prayer.  We all will continue to pray daily. We refuse to lose our faith in God.

Please remember to pray for my husband Randy.  We as a family need your prayers everyday.  🙏🏼

From the bottoms of my heart and soul, thank you all for your prayers, kindness and support.

I love you all, Thank you.  Mandy Fix.
