Nyx has had a rough first year of her life. Although she was adopted right at 8 weeks from her litter, she was born with an issue with controlling her bladder which made it medically necessary for her to wait to have a heat cycle to be fixed so that way her muscles & hormones could grow, strengthen & balance out. She has since been fixed & her bladder issues have subsided. Along with that, Nyx has also suffered from having weak back legs since she was young. For a while, we brushed it off as a puppy being clumsy, but it got worse and worse as she got older. Her back legs give out at least once a day, she limps even after just taking a nap from being so stiff. Although she is able to play fetch, do walks, etc., since she was born with this condition, she has built muscle so much around her hips to protect them from being fragile. At this point, we can tell she’s in pain more and more every day. We are starting some supplements and pain meds to make her comfortable, but in the long run, with her only being one, she will not make it past a few years old with her quality of life depleting constantly because of her hips and legs being in pain and not being able to move easily. We are waiting to hear back on some options for orthopedic specialists to meet with and schedule consults. Surgery is not cheap, but our dogs are our children, as we do not have any. I am asking any and everyone to please consider donating to Nyx’s surgery, or sharing this info for others to see & possibly help out as well!
