I never would have guessed how much our lives would change on August 19th of this year. My wife, Jill, went in for an MRI due to some issues she had been having for a while with her ear. The tech immediately called for an ambulance and I was called to meet her at the hospital. We were told they found something and she needed to go to the hospital. We found out later that day that there was a massive mass on her brain that had shifted the center line of her brain. The doctors couldn't even figure out how she could still walk.

They kept her in the hospital over the weekend and did more scans and tests. On Sunday they scheduled surgery for Monday morning to have the mass removed. The surgery was successful, but it was cancer. The onchology doctors started working with the pathologists to determine the type of cancer and treatment options. They decided on a 6 week treatment plan with radiation and chemo concurrently. Everything was going good until the start of her fifth week of treatments when her platelet level dropped significantly. The doctors immediately took her off the Chemo treatments and had her come in for more bloodwork. That Friday I took her for a chest CT scan to check for blood clots. The scan came back clear but did show possible gall stones. Saturday she woke up to pain and discomfort in her abdominal area. Saturday afternoon we took her in to the ER and she ended up back in the hospital. They determined that her gall bladder was bad and needed to be removed. However, due to her low platelet count she is not a candidate for surgery at this time. So, they treated the gall bladder with antibiotics to reduce the inflamation and gave her 3 transfusions while she stayed in the hospital for a week.

Her platelet levels continue to be low and her gall bladder is still giving her issues. She is now out of vacation time at work. So, we are facing financial uncertainties with her income and paying for our portion of the doctors bills. Any help you can give to keep the financial part out of the stressors in our lives right now is greatly appreciated.

If you are a Polk County School employee and could give some hours to her sick bank that would also be extremely helpful. Get in contact with us and we can get you the information for how to do that.

We are holding on to our faith and know God is in control throughout this whole ordeal.

As of today 11/14 her platelet count has started to rise slightly. Still no where near out of the woods on it but an increase is fantastic news.

Thank you to everyone who continues to pray for our family, that means so much to us. If you can help financially please feel comfortable giving here. I researched this site before using it and they do hold a transaction fee which matches the costs to process a credit card. There are no other fees attached though and they won't hold the funds until we meet the requested amount. And if we need to keep it going longer we can.

It's been a long time since I posted and I wanted to take a moment to update everyone. Jill's scans have continued to come back clean. Her most recent one was perfect and we can now move from every three months to every four months for the scans. Thanks to everyone for the continued prayers for Jill. Her hair has grown back and everything is looking better.

From Jill - Six months ago today, they pulled me out of that machine like the sky was falling. Turns out it was trying to, but God held it up. All things considered, I'm doing really good. My last MRI showed no evidence of the tumor other than the fist sized crater on my brain that both of my oncologists have said will never fully decompress to where it should be. Other than a constant headache (from the radiation), occasional tinnitus, and some facial numbness from the nerve damage, I have no other symptoms. The ear fullness that led to that mri, that I've had for years, is even gone.  I've been off chemo long enough that all the g.i. stuff has cleared up. I don't go until April to have the useless gallbladder checked on but it's still not causing any pain, so that's good.

Jill had her MRI about a week and a half ago. She met with both the radiation and chemo oncologists last week. Radiation is happy with the scan and said it looks clean with no noticeable cancer cells. Chemo was also happy with the scan and wanted to do a follow up chemo treatment just as a precaution. However, due to all the stomache issues she experienced after the last round of chemo the doctor agreed that he didn't see any harm in holding off on the chemo until her next MRI in 3 months. Continue to pray for healing. She meets with the GI doctor tomorrow to see what can be done there.

Platelet counts continue to rise. Hoping they are high enough now that she can get the surgery for her Gall Bladder. We are waiting in the hospital now to talk to Oncology.
