Elder Wisdom and Wise Leadership
Why doesn't our society value our elders? Other cultures understand the rich history and stories our elders carry with them. In the United States, older adults are often devalued, marginalized, and separated from the rest of society. But elders are essential. They are a precious and valuable resource, the repositories of history and wisdom from long lives lived and a wealth of experiences.
Not everyone gets to have a healthy experience with someone who is older. The stories and history can hold valuable lessons and be inspiring. I was very lucky to have that in my life. I was given the opportunity to see and understand respect for older adults and saw how important they are in our lives.
We need to make sure everyone understands the important place older adults have in our families, our lives and in our communities. Those who have not been lucky enough to have that experience, need to appreciate and value older adults. Those who were lucky enough may need to be reminded. Let's face it, we are all aging and want the dignity, respect and appreciation we deserve.
My goal is to raise awareness and create a national dialogue on how we value, care for, and treat older adults through a feature film based on two books: In the Arms of Elders and Tribes of Eden, stories about elder wisdom, wise leadership, the importance of intergenerational relationships and community.
I'm raising money for the cost of having the story told. The funding will cover the cost of the screenplay writer who has agreed to bring this project to life.
Please help me bring this story to life so that I can share it with the world.
