Ten Million Steps for Savannah!

Savannah is a 12 year old girl who recently battled and beat osteosarcoma. Osteosarcoma is a type of bone cancer that usually develops in the cells that form bone. Osteosarcoma is most often found in children, adolescents, and young adults. There are approximately 800 new cases reported each year and about 400 of those cases are found in children and teens.

Savannah underwent 14 rounds of chemo and 12 surgeries.  The surgeries were to address a variety of problems that stem back to an infection that she likely got during the tumor resection.

Because of this, she has not been able to put any weight on her right leg since September.  Two options were shared with Savannah recently.  She could undergo additional surgeries which come with the risk of continuing infection and would not allow her to play sports or run with her friends.  The second option is a below the knee amputation.

Savannah, with the support of her mom, made the really difficult decision to have her leg amputated below the knee.  The amputation will allow Savannah to resume most of the activities that she engaged in before cancer and that her friends are able participate in!

Savannah is looking forward to swimming this summer, playing soccer with her friends and regaining her independence.  In order to do this, Savannah will require multiple prosthetics - each with a different purpose.  She will require new prosthetics as she grows taller and as she will, hopefully, wear them out from all of the amazing things she is going to do!

Prosthetics are expensive.  This journey and the need for a prosthetic were not on anyone's agenda and were not in the financial plan.  That's where you come in!

We are asking you to walk for Savannah during the month of April, which is Limb Loss Awareness Month.  Here's how it works:

You choose either the Platinum Steps, Gold Steps or Silver Steps and make a donation to Savannah. If 1,000 people join us and make a donation of $100, we will reach our $100,000 goal!

Platinum Steps is a commitment to accumulate 10,000 steps a day for 10 days in the month of April for a total of 100,000 steps!

Gold Steps is a commitment to accumulate 5,000 steps a day for 20 days in the month of April for a total of 100,000 steps!

Silver Steps is a commitment to accumulate 3,333 steps a day for 30 days in the month of April for a total of 100,000 steps!

Once you make your commitment, fill out this form.  We will post your progress and donors can choose to support you with their donations!

Don't forget to post pictures of your success using #Steps4Savannah.

Savannah's mom Jillian, her brother Nathan, Savannah and their growing village THANK YOU for your support and kindness!
