Dear Friends and Supporters,
We are Camela and Jason Klein, founders of The Homeseed Project and MadCo Canning Co-op—two initiatives dedicated to food security, sustainability, and community resilience.
The Homeseed Project is working to match people recently displaced by Hurricane Helene with homesteads and farms, giving them a safe place to live and rebuild as they recover. At the same time, MadCo Canning Co-op teaches food preservation skills, helping families stretch resources, reduce waste, and prepare for the future.
These efforts come at a time when so many are struggling, and we’ve poured everything we have into keeping them going. As part of our growth, we are actively working to develop our non-profit status, which will help us expand our reach and secure additional funding to sustain these vital programs.
This past year has tested us in ways we couldn’t have imagined. We’ve faced deeply personal losses, including the recent passing of Jason’s father and, just yesterday, Camela’s mother. Yet, hours after receiving the news, we were conducting an interview for a program manager—because the work doesn’t stop, and the need is greater than ever.
We’ve also battled COVID-19, which delayed critical medical procedures and drained our resources. Through it all, we’ve continued to show up, because we believe these projects matter.
But now we need your help.
We’ve reached the end of our financial runway, and we can’t continue this work without support. Your donation will help us:
• Hire a program manager to scale Homeseed’s efforts and get more displaced families into stable housing.
• Provide tools, seeds, and supplies for our community food-growing and preservation programs.
• Cover operating expenses so we can focus on the people and families who need us most.
• Pay for our living expenses until we become solvent.
We’ve shown we can persevere through loss and hardship, and we’ve built something worth fighting for. With your support, we can expand our reach and keep building stronger, more sustainable communities.
Every contribution—large or small—helps us give hope, stability, and resources to those who need it most. Thank you for believing in our vision and standing with us.
With gratitude,
Camela and Jason Klein
