I am a single mother currently facing unexpected medical and financial hardship. In July, after resigning from my teaching position of seven years in hopes of starting a new chapter, I began experiencing severe back pain. Unfortunately, after losing my employer-sponsored insurance, I had to wait until new coverage took effect before seeking emergency care.
On October 16, I was admitted to HCA Hospital and diagnosed with a serious spinal infection. I remained hospitalized for over three weeks and was discharged in November. Following my release, I required home health care and IV antibiotics administered through a PICC line until December 4.
Despite completing treatment, the pain has not subsided and I am still unable to return to work while awaiting further medical answers. In the meantime, everyday expenses and basic necessities continue.
