Our child Violet who is only 3 years old was just diagnosed with craniosynostosis and diagnosed with an arachnoid cyst in her brain. This was a total incidental diagnosis and finding we were not prepared for. She was being seen for an unrelated condition and we were shocked to get this news back from her cat scan. We are preparing for possibly surgery on her skull for craniosynostosis and meeting with the neurosurgeon to talk about possibly another surgery of her brain for the cyst. Violet also has a surgery to remove a lipoma from her scalp, unrelated to her newly found diagnosis. She has multiple upcoming visits, and multiple scans. This will be a very long process of healing and monitoring Violet. We are incredibly grateful that this was caught now, but the weeks surrounding it will require time off work for Alex, care for our other children, and help with meals and daily needs we did not have time to prepare for.Â
We humbly ask for your prayers for healing, peace, and strength as we navigate this season. If you feel led, there are ways you can also help practically: prayers, providing meals, helping with childcare for violets two siblings, or supporting our family with expenses for time taken off work for Alex & other related expenses. Every bit of support is a blessing and deeply appreciated. This goal reflects lost income while staying by our childâs side during her upcoming surgery, multiple upcoming days for doctors visits, monitoring, scans, out-of-pocket medical expenses, travel and hospital costs, and basic household needs so our family can remain stable during this crisis. Thank you for your prayers and support.
*Update*
Violet was seen by neuro today and thankfully her cyst currently is small we are praying it does not change in growth. Her premature skull fusion will still need to be closely monitored as her brain continues to grow and watch for symptoms such as coma, seizures and headaches. The surgery is risky and very complex to do to expand her skull to allow room for her growing brain. We are still asking for prayers that her fragile brain can continue to grow without complications and her cyst not grow and hopefully not cause any complications. She has an upcoming surgery in February we have faith and pray for the doctors operating on her to keep her in goodÂ
******2/3/2026 UPDATE new information:Â
Our hearts are breaking as we share this update. What we thought was one medical hurdle has turned into something far more serious than we were initially told. Weâve recently learned that Violet will need multiple surgeries on her skull, very close by proximity to her brain and now surgery on her spine as well. We should be enrolling Violet in preschool but for now weâve had to put that on hold not knowing if she is going to be able to attend with all her upcoming surgeries. She is only 3 her and our only worries of her should be of her playing and making family memories. Doctors are currently trying to determine whether any of these surgeries can be combined into one, but because of the different locationsâtwo separate skull surgeries plus her spineâitâs still very uncertain.
What we do know is that we have a very long road ahead. The coming months will be filled with specialist appointments, CT scans, MRIs, hospital stays, and multiple surgeries. Itâs overwhelming, frightening, and completely life-altering for our family.
During this time, Alex will need to take significant time off work to be present for Violetâs surgeries, hospital stays, and countless appointments. Unfortunately, this time off is unpaid, which adds another layer of stress during an already terrifying season of parenthood . I am a stay-at-home mom, and while that allows me to be with Violet, it also means we rely entirely on Alexâs income.
Along with medical related costs, finding and paying for sitters so we can attend violets appointments without worrying about her siblings needs, weâre facing the very real costs that continue even when life feels like itâs on pauseâgas for constant travel to and from appointments, food during long hospital days and overnight stays, school drop-offs and pick-ups for our other children, and keeping up with household bills and our mortgage so we can keep a roof over our kidsâ heads.
This fundraiser isnât about luxury or extrasâitâs about stability while we focus on what matters most: getting Violet through this safely and being fully present for her every step of the way. Any support helps lift a small piece of the financial burden so we can put our energy where it belongsâon our daughter and our family. Prayers are always appreciated and encouraged.
Whether youâre able to donate, share, or keep Violet in your thoughts and prayers, we are incredibly grateful. Thank you for standing with us during this unbelievably hard time.
