The 1.5 mile Bowery is the oldest thoroughfare in Manhattan. In the 1940s through the 1990s, the Bowery was NYC's "Skid Row."
The Bowery has seen a renaissance in recent years, but it has not forgotten to provide care to the less fortunate who still call the neighborhood home.
The Bowery Mission has been working with New Yorkers to help the homeless since 1879. During this nearly 140-year span, the Bowery Mission has remained within 10 blocks of its original location, 14 Bowery.
The Bowery Mission helps the men, women, and children caught in the cycles of poverty, hopelessness and dependencies of many kinds, and to see their lives transformed.
Part museum and part hotel, The Bowery House serves to help visitors enjoy the living history of the Bowery.
We restored every detail of the remarkable 1940’s cabin craftsmanship of our property, which opened as The Prince Hotel in 1927 and later was converted to temporary lodging for soldiers returning from WWII.
The Bowery House is proud to raise funds to support its neighbor, The Bowery Mission.
Please drop a token to help the Bowery Mission continue its long history of helping the neighborhood's homeless and at-risk youth. Donate today!
