Dear Friends and Family,
I’m reaching out during this difficult time to ask for financial support as we navigate an unexpected hospitalization and mounting medical expenses.
My fiancé and father of my two children, has been involuntarily held at St. Mary’s Behavioral ER and Adult Psych Unit since February 20th, despite posing no threat to himself or others. He legally must be reevaluated every 48 hours, yet I’ve been denied clear answers on why he remains there. He sounds like himself, his psychiatrist confirms he has the right to be in the least restrictive environment, and we have a strong support system ready for his safe return home.
This situation is not only distressing but legally questionable. St. Mary’s has a history of misconduct and financial instability, and recent billing inconsistencies raise concerns about their motives for keeping him. Meanwhile, I have been denied visits, phone calls, and direct communication with staff, facing roadblocks at every turn. When I've escalated my concerns to management and Patient Relations coordinators, I've gotten nowhere.
As he remains on unpaid leave, our financial situation is becoming uncertain. We will likely need help covering rent in April, legal fees, other necessities, and mounting medical bills. I’ve been working tirelessly with mental health professionals, crisis workers, attorneys, and patient advocates to secure his release, but the system is deeply flawed and the wheels of justice turn incredibly slowly.
Your support—whether through donations, sharing our story, or simply keeping us in your thoughts & prayers—means the world to us. I would love to be able to show him how our amazing community showed up for our family in this time of need.
Thank you for your kindness, compassion, and generosity during this incredibly difficult time. 💛
With eternal gratitude,
