URGENT UPDATE:
The ACLU’s Passport case has received a Court order to expand the ruling to allow eligible* trans people to receive a US Passport with their correct gender marker.
What that means is Trans Maryland is receiving constant requests for Passport assistance and we want to help as many trans folks as we can. We are not sure how long this window will be open, so we need to act quickly.
Having access to ACCURATE identity documents, particularly a passport, is ESSENTIAL for all trans people in this current climate. Help us raise $20K which will cover fees for 80 individuals to receive an accurate US Passport.

Trans Maryland is here to serve the people of Maryland. As we grow, more and more folks are reaching out for help with the legal complexity of the name change process!
In 2024, there were 669 anti-trans bills introduced across the country in 43 states. 48 passed and 139 are active. It is more important than ever that we take steps to protect our trans friends and community members in every way that we can.
In order to serve the 350 folks in queue and meet the ever growing need, Trans Maryland is hiring a full time staff person to process name change requests. This fundraiser is to pay for xir salary!
Trans Maryland is a grassroots organization, starting small but mighty this group of dedicated (mostly) volunteers is helping reach hundreds of Marylander's every year. Give what you can to support our mission and the trans community of Maryland!
You can help by donating. Trans Maryland’s Name Change Program has already helped over 1400 trans Marylanders to legally change our identity information, including name and gender designations. This can be critical in obtaining vital services for healthcare, housing, finances and more.
The need is urgent. The cost to change identity documents often runs to many hundreds of dollars. Trans Maryland underwrites the costs for trans people in need, helps fill out the paperwork, and more.
