K.G. is a student identified as Intellectually Gifted by school professionals. She lives with her grandparents and half-siblings in subsidized housing. Her grandparents work very hard to provide food for their grandchildren, but very little money is left over for anything not deemed necessary. Last summer, she spent the entire time cooped up in a two-bedroom apartment, waiting for her grandparents to come home.
I want to change that for her this upcoming summer by providing her with summer camps and field trips to places like the zoo, a cave, an art museum, etc. She LOVES to learn, and I desperately want her to see what her life can be like if she continues her education past high school. She would be the first one in her family.
I'm her teacher during the school year, but I want to continue to teach her during the summer with your help and her grandmother's approval of all activities.
