This is Johnny, in 2005 he was born with very rare genetic disorder that caused his liver to fail before his life had even begun. Years of treatment, gastric tubes, cholecystectomy bags, and numerous procedures and testing until he graciously received his first liver transplant in 2011 at 5 years old. Two days after mothers day of 2011 he was blessed with a second chance at life, however his fight was far from over. Two days after Mother's Day of 2026 he was admitted into the specialty treatment center that he received his first transplant at, his skin and eyes extremely jaundice. The amazing team of nurses and doctors were able to stabilize him but on Friday, May 29th he was informed that his liver is in chronic rejection. We all knew that this day would come but had no idea just how hard it would be to see him go through this again. With his condition, the doctors had told us that he would need another transplant in 10-15 years and unfortunately that time is now. He has been in the hospital for 3 weeks now, unable to go home. With liver rejection this severe, if he would return home to await the transplant, he would not make it. The severe decline of his liver has caused a plethora of other issues including massive fluid build-up in his lungs that has to be drained via abdomen every two days.
Before this hospitalization, Johnny was working towards having as normal of a life as possible while taking the necessary precautions to protect his liver. He is now 21 years old and like all of us, isn't ready to give up. We are trying to raise the funds to cover the expenses for not only the co-pay required for the transplant but to keep him as comfortable as possible while patiently waiting for another liver. Any donations would be greatly appreciated, and even if a donation isn't possible, please share with friends, family, and even your communities. Thank you.
